KPMG

Black Heritage Talent - Audit Insight

Job Description

"Audit is the largest of our UK practices. Put simply, audit is about examining organisations and ensuring their published accounts provide a ‘true and fair’ view of their financial position and results. The work we do makes a meaningful difference to businesses and communities. It is critical to the everyday working of society, helps build trust in the economy and supports companies as they grow.

This programme is aimed primarily at students of Black heritage seeking an insight into a career in Audit. By Black heritage, we mean students who might identify as Black, African, Caribbean, Black British or Mixed/Multiple ethnic groups: White and Black Caribbean, White and Black African. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to learn more about our business and develop your professional skills.

During your Insight experience, you’ll have the chance to meet inspirational people from our diverse Audit teams and explore our variety of career opportunities available. Over two days you'll network with our colleagues, learn more about what we do and the meaningful difference we make to businesses and the communities we serve.

This programme is open to students who are due to graduate in 2023 or 2025, as well as those who have graduated already. Whilst on the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to take an assessment, and if successful, you could secure a position on one of our 2023 Audit graduate programmes or 2024 Audit vacation programmes (depending on your graduate year).
In Audit, we undertake work that affects investment decisions, inspires confidence in public sector expenditure and supports economic growth. Some of the world’s biggest companies rely on us to provide independent insight, challenge and high-quality audit expertise. Today, more than ever in disruptive times, audit is a function needed by society and in the future, to support growth.

We deliver robust outcomes by working to the highest standards. As part of that, we continue to invest heavily in tech-enabled solutions, which not only allow us to offer deeper insights and higher quality audits, but also a better user experience for our auditors.

As an Audit apprentice, you’ll focus on delivering high-quality audits using an investigative approach. You’ll learn to use new technologies and tools such as artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to analyse data and produce quality audit outcomes – all whilst studying towards a valuable professional qualification. You'll gain a breadth of experience as well as become equipped with valuable technical skills, broad commercial understanding and in-depth knowledge of different industry sectors – from the biggest multinationals through to innovative start-ups.

You'll have the resources and support you need to thrive with us and reach your full potential, learning to handle each audit engagement with confidence. You'll work as part of a team and may spend time on site at the companies you're auditing, in virtual or hybrid forms of audit delivery. From the start, you'll be working on complex projects alongside some of the brightest minds in business and benefit from learning every day.

It’s challenging, yet rewarding work. There's also a real sense of community across our Audit team – we're collaborative and value the different perspectives and ideas that contribute to our shared goal of delivering quality work. You’ll join an environment where you can come as you are, and supported to be at your best.

At KPMG, work is no longer a place we go, it's a contribution we make. Our people have always worked flexibly – so this way of working isn't new for us. We’re creating a tech-driven business to empower and equip our people to be outstanding in delivery, no matter where they work – through inspiring collaboration spaces and new technologies. In your role, you’ll work flexibly across your location region – at engagement sites, our offices and home. Some travel is likely for audit work and because the work is seasonal, you can expect a greater workload at the busiest times of the year.

Join us and be part of an inclusive team that’s supportive of individual wellbeing and embraces diversity – and the positive impact this has for our people, our firm, the companies we audit and the community."
