Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship – Manufacturing - Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre

JLR’s Advanced Apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your mind, learning the latest concepts and technologies at college, and then applying your learning on real life projects.

We’ll open your eyes to the future of automotive technology, giving you a platform to make a real difference to JLR and our customers, whilst enabling you to complete your level 3 apprenticeship and achieve a vocational qualification relevant to your apprenticeship programme. 

Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC) - Wolverhampton

The EPMC is a state of art, purpose-built manufacturing facility producing a range of propulsion systems that form the heart of all our vehicle. It produces both traditional internal combustion engines and new products/technology such as EDU (Electric Drive Units) and Battery packs, which will support the transition to our electrified future.  

As a member of the team, you will rapidly develop your problem-solving skills as you learn to read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to maintain components, equipment and systems, whilst conducting monitoring and maintenance activities across the plant. You will also carry out complex fault diagnosis and repair on high technology systems such as mechanical equipment, fluid and pneumatic power equipment, process control equipment and robot and laser marking devices enabling you to effectively rectify automated performance and contribute to continuous improvement.  

The Apprenticeship  

The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship – Manufacturing is an exciting four-year programme which will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role, including business behaviours such as team working and problem-solving.  

Your apprenticeship pathway will depend upon the area of the business in which you will be based. You will be asked for your preference on business area ahead of attending an assessment with us.  

During your apprenticeship, you can expect to spend a significant amount of your first year at our training provider: MAKE UK in Birmingham, B6 7EP. In your first year you’ll complement your studies by working at a JLR plant alongside members of our skilled teams. In subsequent years, you will predominantly work in the plant, and you’ll continue your studies leading up to your End Point Assessment. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have constant guidance and support from both the business and the training provider. 

WHAT’S REQUIRED?  

You will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve GCSE Maths and English Language at level 4 (C) alongside three further GCSEs at level 4 (C) or higher, including one STEM (science, technology, engineering or maths) subject or an Engineering vocational qualification at level 3/90 credits/540 GLH or higher.
