"Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint, and final assembly.
We are looking for a confident and eager to learn individual to join our Contracts and Change Management team, responsible for the steering of change related to our Physical Logistics processes across all production technologies. This includes long-term scenario planning through medium to short-term programme planning. Additionally, we are responsible for launch integration, continuous improvement, and the management of our various service providers on-site, areas you will become a key and valued part of as your apprenticeship develops.
What will you be doing?
Your Training - The BMW Group offers an enhanced level 4 apprenticeship commencing in August 2023. The four-year programme is designed to enable you to experience different aspects of the business, particularly focusing on our Logistics department. There will be the opportunity to build networks, put skills which are being continually learnt into practical use, work on projects alongside other members of the business, and carry out tasks independently.
The apprenticeship will provide several different opportunities to support individual career development and will include the support and guidance necessary to ensure your training is successful.
Whilst developing specialist, on-the-job knowledge, you will also undertake fully funded study toward the attainment of a L4 Data Analyst apprenticeship diploma and a Corndel and Imperial College Data Analytics diploma. In addition, if you meet both your targeted grades and our expectations in terms of engagement in your work, you may have the opportunity to continue your academic training in the form of a L6 Data Scientist degree.
Your Year-on-Year Progression - Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will continue with the academic requirements of the programme alongside on-the-job training. Your on-the-job training will include placements in a number of different areas of the business. Within these placements, your responsibilities may include:
- Developing key statistics which lever more efficient outcomes of logistics processes.
- Using data analytics to support management decision-making processes.
- Developing data bridges between physical logistics operations system processes and the change management team responsible for process optimisation.
- Creating data architecture for automation of KPI reporting, steering, and predictive analytics.
- Investigating solutions to enhance the efficiency of service provider invoice verifications and accounting processes.
- Working with overseas Plants to design user cases to enhance business processes.
In the latter part of the apprenticeship, your on-the-job training will continue and will become more targeted to your post-apprenticeship job.
